Obituary for Edna Mae Sykes

Born, July 10, 1927 to Bernice Richardson and Agnes Bynum in Durham, N.C. To that Union there were born one son and 4 daughters. All of whom are deceased. Edna was the youngest.               

She attended Durham public school system.

After moving north to NYC she then moved to Morristown NJ where she became a lifelong resident. Working at Marlboro State Hospital, Greystone Park State Hospital and Delbarton Preparatory School. She finally retired from Pyrotronics in 1992.

Her greatest enjoyment was cooking and entertaining her family at backyard BBQs.

In July of 2010 she moved to Georgia to live with her youngest son. After some health issues began to develop in 2013, She became a resident of a rehabilitation facility where she remained till her death on September 18, 2018.

Her oldest son Richard Richardson predeceased her on February 27, 2012.

She leaves to mourn her passing, a son Rev Burnice Sykes, Marietta Ga, 5 grand children, Deborah Richardson,  AArona Sykes, Michelle Sykes, Sherlyn Sykes, Jason Richardson, a grand daughter in law Sharita Richardson, 1 niece, Ann Hinton, 4 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of additional relatives and friends.
